This beautiful broach is handmade out of paper-mache and hand painted in the Russian village of Zhostovo. Since the late 19th century, the authentic production of Russian lacquer brooches has taken place in old village widely known for its beautiful artwork on the metal trays. Local painters used their old secrets for new art. Today, Moscow painters' work is based on the best samples of old Russian miniature art which is exhibited in the museums of Moscow Kremlin and in the Russian Orthodox Church. Slight variation of colors and shapes is possible since this is a handmade item.
