"Fedoskino" is the modern name for the Old Russian town of Danilkovo, in the Moscow Oblast, located about 20 miles due North from Moscow. For over 300 years master artisans have continuously made Fedoskino lacquer boxes in this small Russian town. Over this time, generations of artists, artisans, art guilds, master craftsmen and universities perfected the Fedoskino style lacquer box. These lacquer boxes have earned worldwide recognition for their high level of workmanship, detailed painting, realism, and precision miniature and fine painting. Since each Fedoskino lacquer box is 100% handmade and hand painted, each Fedoskino lacquer box is unique and highly sought after by collectors worldwide. The Fedoskino painting is completed with various mixed oil paints and with extreme skill, patience, supervision and care. Many of the very fine Fedoskino lacquer boxes often take more than 1 year to complete! Today in Russia, various local art guilds and universities maintain extensive multi-year training programs (4 to 5 years), which pass-on the art of making fine Fedoskino lacquer boxes to a handful of interested Russian artists and artisans. Fedoskino lacquer boxes will last many hundreds of years. These boxes are suitable as family heirlooms, wedding gifts, gold or silver anniversaries or similar occasions. This box is a true masterpiece that is 100% authentic and was hand painted in Russia. Artist: Zimin.
